San Antonio, Texas - ( The Hosting News ) - July 10, 2008 - Web hosting company, Rackspace Managed Hosting's Mosso cloud division, has developed a new control panel including a new provisioning system for its flagship product, The Hosting Cloud. The combined enhancements create a platform for Mosso to increase cloud service capabilities and scalability. The new Mosso Control Panel simplifies and speeds management of the applications, websites, databases and email accounts a customer has deployed across The Hosting Cloud. Developed in-house, the Mosso control panel gives users the familiar look and feel of a modern desktop application, including fast interaction, real-time messages, and contextual feedback. Lew Moorman, Senior VP of Corporate Strategy at Rackspace noted, ''Plugging proprietary and third party cloud services into the new platform will be relatively easy. The platform was designed with that in mind so that our cloud division can frequently deliver new capabilities to users.'' Mosso's new more flexible provisioning system increases performance, speed and functionality. The time it takes to provision a typical new service on The Hosting Cloud has been reduced from five minutes to well under a minute. And, built using Apache's ServiceMix, the platform provides a robust, scalable integration point for both existing and new services. The new Mosso Control Panel and the underlying provisioning systems were also built for scalability, and are capable of intelligently handling millions of simultaneous requests. Jonathan Bryce, Mosso Co-Founder noted, ''We created Mosso to try to give developers the easiest, most reliable way to deploy their web applications without needing to be responsible for all the technology. Our latest architectural improvements take this concept to the next level, giving our customers more control over their applications than ever before, and backing it up with a provisioning environment that will help ensure that they can scale to meet future demand.'' The Mosso control panel introduces usability features including an all-new web-based file manager. Using the file manager, users now have a web-based view of their storage environment. They can easily execute advanced operations that would normally require shell access's such as creating and decompressing archives, or changing permissions - directly through the Mosso control panel. The file manager feature introduces a snapshot tool that now allows users to go back in time to access and reinstate previous versions of their files with a single click. This new tool takes a ''picture'' of the system every few hours, and keeps file versions on a rolling basis through midnight CST four days prior. This feature would especially be useful for an accidental overwrite, for example. Jonathan Bryce, Mosso Co-Founder remarked, ''I didn't think hosting with Mosso could get any easier. This control panel release has proven me wrong - it's clean, easy to navigate and fast. Mosso obviously put a lot of thought into figuring out what a user needs at his fingertips, from the second he logs in.''
